Man fatally crushed at Prominent Hill mine – An unidentified man has died at OZ Minerals mine at Prominent Hill in South Australia.
According to Mining company OZ Minerals on Monday, an underground mine worker was said to be fatally injured at the Prominent Hill mine on Sunday afternoon.
OZ Minerals boss Andrew Cole said; “This incident has had a profound impact on our workforce and our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone at the site.”
The 43-year-old man was crushed by machinery and died at the worksite, according to the Police.
Minister Dan van Holst Pellekaann said, “Think about the people on site who would have found this person at work underground and who would have been closely involved in trying to save his life.”
“This is very sad, very serious and I know all of the workers and everybody in the company take it incredibly seriously and will do everything they can to discover what went wrong,” Minister Dan added.
Work at Prominent Hill has been temporarily suspended because the death is being looked into by the Police.
