Wilhelmina E Mathewson Obituary – Death, Wilhelmina E Mathewson Funeral

Wilhelmina E. (Machado) Mathewson, 97, of Norwood, MA formerly of Attleboro, MA passed away peacefully at the Revolution Charwell House in Norwood, MA where she had resided since 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard P. Mathewson who died on July 12, 2000.

Born in Swansea, MA on April 3, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Machado, Sr., and the late Mary I. (Travers) Machado Waldron. She was a graduate of Bayview Academy – Class of 1941.

Mrs. Mathewson was employed as a file clerk for the former Foxboro Company for 11 years until her retirement in 1985. She returned to work part-time at the Sun Chronicle working in the distribution department prior to her final retirement.

Mrs. Mathewson resided in Attleboro from 1966 – 2017 when she moved to Norwood.

Her favorite pastimes included cooking, especially baking, solving word search puzzles, lending her voice to song but will best be remembered by her family as a woman who overcame great adversity in her life and as a generous woman who loved her family tirelessly.

She leaves three children: Barbara A. Loewe of Hillsboro, TX; Marion C. Brousseau, wife of the late Joseph “Jerry” Gerard Brousseau, Jr., of Attleboro, MA; and Ruth E. Silvernail and her husband, David Silvernail, of Attleboro, MA; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and extended family members. She was the loving sister of the late Joseph Machado, Jr.

Visitation on Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022, in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Stevens Corner Cemetery, Rehoboth, MA.

At the family’s request, MASKS are to be always worn during visitation and funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
