Wayne D. Roam Death – Obituary : Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office say, a man was shot and killed while trying to break into a home at the early hours of Thursday, according to reports.
Deputies responded to a home near Festus, at about 1:40 p.m. Thursday. Arriving deputies located Wayne D. Roam, 36, of House Springs, on the porch of the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene, reports said.
Police say the homeowner allegedly heard a knock at the door. He then got his gun and went ahead to open the door, before which he saw the doorknob twisting as if someone is trying to enter the home.
Immediately he opened the door, one of the men sprayed mace inside the home, prompting the unidentified home owner to fire his weapon before quickly locking the door, court documents entails.
Two men were apprehended while trying to drive away from the scene. Officers say they both told conflicting stories as to what they were doing at the area at the time, and stains of blood was also seen on one of the men’s shirt, court documents says.
