Valentine Nappari Obituary- Death, Valentine Nappari Funeral

Valentine Mae (Shepard) Nappari, 94, died peacefully at Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner on Sunday, January 2, 2022.

Valentine was born in Montague, MA on February 14, 1927, a daughter of the late George W. and Veda I. (Ormsby) Shepard. She was the beloved wife of the late Tenho M. “Tony” Nappari to whom she was married for 63 years.

Val was a graduate of Fitchburg High School. She lived in Fitchburg for several years before moving to Leominster for some time. Val and her husband settled back in Fitchburg where she lived happily with her family for most of her married life. During their time in Fitchburg, Val and Tony were very active at Faith United Church. She was a diaconate, headed many committees and could always be found lending a helping hand whenever needed at Faith United. Val worked for over 45 years at the former Sears and Roebuck store on Main Street in Fitchburg, as well as in Leominster, where she was the department manager for lady’s wear. She and Tony traveled extensively upon their retirement to many European countries, Australia, Africa and many places in the United States. She enjoyed fishing in Maine with her husband and sons and loved to golf both on Cape Cod and in Myrtle Beach. Val was a great cook and enjoyed time spent in the kitchen preparing meals for her beloved family. She could always be found playing cards with her friends at Manor on the Hill where she resided for several years.

Valentine is survived by her son, Michael James Nappari of Athol, MA; her brothers, Elwin William Shepard and his wife Diane and Olney Aldring Shepard and his wife Betty all of Leominster, MA; her sister-in-law, Lorraine Shepard of Gardner, MA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Val was predeceased by her son, Mark Allen Nappari; and her brothers, Henry Shepard, Richard Shepard, Reginald Shepard, George Shepard, and Merrill Shepard.

Val’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Manor on the Hill and Summit Elder Care for their compassion and care in helping Val have a great quality of life.

Her funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 11:00am in Rollstone Congregational Church, UCC, 199 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420.

A period of visitation will be held in Rollstone Congregation Church, on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 10 – 11am.

Burial to follow in Woodside Cemetery, Narrows Road, Westminster, MA.

Val’s family has requested that you please wear a mask while attending her funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Manor on the Hill, 450 N. Main Street, Leominster, MA 01453, ATTN: Activities Department.
