UPDATE: 2 people dead after multi-vehicle collision in Monongalia County

UPDATE (5/24/21 12:35 p.m.):

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the deaths of two people in a multi-vehicle accident that happened May 21.

The incident happened at about 2 p.m. on Route 705, near the Willowdale Road intersection.

The driver of a Toyota RAV4, Janis Yeager, 66, of Morgantown, and a passenger, Charlene Earle, 68, of Frostburg, Md., were both killed, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver of a truck on Willowdale Road went to Ruby Memorial Hospital for a back injury. The driver of a Kia went to Mon General Hospital with unknown injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Star City Volunteer Fire Department and Mon EMS.

The sheriff’s office has not released any information on exactly what happened in this incident.

Traffic was slowed following a two-vehicle accident Friday just outside of Morgantown.

Monongalia County 911 officials said the wreck happened at about 2 p.m. at the intersection of Route 705 and Willowdale Road.

Crews with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office and EMS workers, along with the Star City Volunteer Fire Department, helped clean up the scene.

There is no information at this time on any injuries in that accident, or any details on what exactly happened.
