UNF student killed in U.S. Highway 1 and Gran Bay Parkway accident

University of North Florida is mourning the demise of a student who died in a tragic car accident

Osprey Megan Mooney, 22 passed away after sustaining serious injuries in a car accident on U.S. Highway 1 and Gran Bay Parkway at about 3 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Mooney, majored in Criminology with a minor in Psychology, and was expected to graduate in December of this year, according to First Coast News

Mooney has been described as “a very humble girl, despite her darling looks and sweet personality”.

According to her family, Mooney loved the beach as well as her Delta Gamma sorority sisters. She was also a very talented athlete, as she was captain and quarterback of the Durant High School Girls Flag Football team, and won the Cougar Award as the “Most Talented Athlete at Nativity Catholic School in 2013″.

Factors leading to the crash were not made available.
