At exactly 10:42 p.m., Long Beach Police officers responded to 15th Street and Cedar Avenue, on a shooting report.

LBPD along with Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived to the scene, and located a male suffering from apparent gunshot wound. The victim identified as Rafael Araiza was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Officers reportedly located the victim in their vehicle in the 1400 block of Cedar Avenue, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso. After performing life saving measures, fire personnel determined the victim deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation reveals an unidentified suspect approached the victim as he were in his vehicle, and open fire on the victim.

Later that same day, at about 3:04 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of 9th Street and Daisy Avenue, to the scene of a second shooting incident.

The second incident resulted to the death of a 31 year-old victim whose identity is currently being withheld pending the notification to next of kin.

The victim was reportedly a homeless man living in Long Beach.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim on the sidewalk close to the intersection, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the upper and lower torso. Long Beach Fire Department personnel later pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Investigation is currently ongoing.
