Blake Chaplin Death,
Jake Chaplin had been identified as the hiker found dead near the Manly Beacon along Golden Canyon Trail in Death Valley National Park.
Cause of Death
The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office in California are digging to know the cause of death, but no trail have been found so far, according to the release.
The staff of the national park who is said to have reportedly found Chaplain’s body next to the trail early in the morning. Blake Chaplin aged 52, was said to be the second fatality along this trail within a week, as reported by Officials of the Valley.
“Park rangers responded and confirmed that no helicopters were available to assist, so they had to search in other to retrieve Chaplin’s body.”
The NBC News reports another man, Lawrence Stanback, 60, of San Francisco, who was also found dead on the same trail on Aug. 18. Heat stroke is suspected as the cause of his death, according to the NBC News report.
Temperatures over the weekend Crank up to 109 degrees Celsius in Death Valley. Regularly, temperatures surge to 115 degrees during this time of the year, according to valley officials.
Park rangers urge summer travelers to visit Death Valley safely with these tips:
- Limit strenuous activity
- Hike in the cooler morning hours (ending hikes before 10 a.m.)
- Drink plenty of water
- Eat salty snacks
- Stay close to air conditioning
- A visitation for Chaplin will be held Monday, Aug. 30, from 10 to 11 a.m. at McGilley State Line Chapel in Kansas City, Mo., followed by a funeral service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
