Premier Li keqiang in a video link at the Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum said that energy sector and climate change is a high priority to the Chinese government.
The aim is to reach the highest level of carbon dioxide emission before 2030 and to become completely carbon neutral before 2060.
Li advised all countries to work together to attain development and also stress the need to transform to green energy. He said that the effect of COVID-19 pandemic has lead to instability and uncertainty in the world economy. this he said possesses a challenge to green energy and sustainable development.
He further urged all countries to work together on the basis of mutual respect to transform energy consumption structure and it mode of production in a scientific and orderly way. He stated that to have a society with low carbon emission, science, technology and the integration of results from both should be optimized.
Li also stressed on the need to conserve energy. He stressed the need to assist developing countries by assisting them with fund, science and technological ideas and equipment so that they can achieve the low carbon energy transmission.
He said that countries should ensure reduced pollution and carbon emission in their recovery from the effect of covid 19 pandemic. He said that china will strengthen international cooperation so as to promote energy consumption, supply, technology and work for energy transformation.
