Police say a male suspected of fatally shooting a woman mid-day Thursday, was found dead with a believed to be self-inflicted gunshot wound, following a standoff with officers, according to reports.

Officers responded to the Glenville Neighborhood near East 124th Street and Brackland Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. Officers located a woman unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was pronounced dead at the scene, reports entails.

SWAT units from Cleveland and Cuyahoga County responded to the scene after an armed male suspect barricaded himself inside a residence on the 600 block of Gray Avenue.

Officers say the stand-off lasted for hours. A SWAT member entered the home at about 10:30 p.m. and located a male dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities are yet to disclose the identity of either deceased persons.

This is an active investigation.
