Suspect arrested in Simi Valley fire outbreak

Multiple firefighters on full body armor were seen struggling to quench a house fire in Simi Valley Friday evening, reports said.

It occurred at about 5 p.m. in the 2100 block of North Marter Avenue, officials with Ventura County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene at the east of Erringer Road and north of East Los Angeles Avenue.

Investigation indicates that a family member poured gas over the property. Family members told police there were firearms in the house, although it wasn’t immediately clear whether the man inside had access to the weapons.

A suspect was arrested at about 5:30 p.m., police say, he may have set the property on fire intentionally.
