“Today it is with a heavy heart that the Hellenic Ball Hockey Association is deeply saddened to announce that one of our own Stefanos Govas passed away last night. We are all devastated with this news.
Since our inception, the HBHA has sent a team to represent Greece at the world ball Hockey Championships. It is a true honour and privilege to wear the blue and white jersey and represent your country and heritage. Stefanos did so six times ( 5x men’s: 2009.2011,2013,2015 ,2019 and 1x masters 2018) and he did it with pure class and with pride.
We have travelled the world competing in foreign nations, an amazing experience giving it your all win or lose.
The best part of it all is the friendships you make along the way the people you meet, the ones that last a lifetime.
Stefanos was loved both amongst his peers and his opponents. He touched anyone that had the pleasure of meeting him and brightened up their day. His ability to make you laugh no matter how up or down you were will truly be missed. I loved playing with or against him and the hours of discussions.
We lost a special member our Greek brotherhood. The world lost a bright light and a terrific human being with a huge heart.
The Hellenic Ball Hockey Association will like to express our most sincere condolences to his family , friends and teammates.
May you Rest In Peace my friend”.

A very sad week for the ball hockey world. We lost one of our brothers. I hadn’t seen Steve in a few years but played with him for 6-7 years on different teams. His presence was felt in any locker room, he had a larger than life personality and a smile that lit up a room. Always happy and one of the funniest guys around. He was also a fierce competitor and always one the most fit players on the field blazing through defenders with his speed and tenacity. You will be deeply missed Steve by the whole ball hockey community and your brothers from team Greece. RIP STEVE. Still can’t believe it. #stefanosgovas #ballhockey

This morning I heard terrible news. Stefanos Govas, a friend and ball hockey teammate for the last 15 years has passed away. He was a fantastic human being, funny, supportive and a genuinely nice person. I am certainly going to miss him. The most important thing right now is to think of his family and his close friends as they go through this difficult time. My sincerest and most heartfelt condolences.. Rest in peace Steve

Sad news came from the Greek Hockeyball Federation. A long-standing representative of Greece Stefanos Govas, who represented the country in the 2009, 2011, and also in the past 2019 World Championship in Košice, died. Honor his memory.
