Death – Obituary : Sheriff’s Office investigates body found in High Ridge area | Police Fire – Cause Of Death

A body was found Tuesday night (April 6) on property off East Osage Drive near Twin River Road west of High Ridge. The body was wrapped in plastic and covered with a piece of outdoor carpet, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

As of this morning (April 7), investigators had not identified the body nor determined if the person was a man or woman, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.

At about 6:50 p.m., deputies got a call from a man who was mushroom hunting on his property off East Osage Drive. He told investigators he saw the carpet, pulled it back and found something wrapped in plastic. The man said he cut into the plastic and found a bone with possible clothing attached to it and called authorities, Bissell said.

He said deputies confirmed a body was inside the plastic and had the body sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation.

Bissell said the Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident as suspicious.
