Death – Obituary : Missing parrot found on woman’s head at Anakeesta – Cause Of Death

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -A missing parrot last seen on Easter Sunday was found on a woman’s head at Anakeesta on Tuesday.

According to Anakeesta, Lauren Reilly says her Congo African Grey Parrot, Phoenix, flew away from her when she was out hiking in Sevier County on Sunday.

Reilly says she lost Phoenix when her dog bolted during the hike. “My dog, he never does this, he yanked me, and Phoenix got spooked,” Reilly told Anakeesta.

Anakeesta says, the bird must have been excited to see the views of the Great Smoky Mountains because he landed on a woman’s head on the AnaVista Tower on Tuesday, April 6.

According to the theme park, thanks to the distinct coloring of the Congo African Grey Parrot, the guest knew that Phoenix wasn’t a wild bird but likely someone’s pet.

The guest notified Anakeesta rangers and took to social media for a search. According to Reilly, the guest searched for lost parrots in the Gatlinburg area and came across her Facebook post showing the missing bird in question–Phoenix.

After reuniting with Phoenix, the park offered Reilly a job, calling her discovery of Phoenix at the park a “sign from God.”
