Body found on Main Street in downtown Greenville, coroner says

A man’s body was found on Main Street in downtown Greenville Monday morning, according to the Greenville County coroner’s office. The body was found in the roadway at 1:25 a.m. near 17 South Main Street, which is the soon-to-be Byrd’s Famous Cookies. Police said they are treating the death as “suspicious” and do have some leads. “We responded to 17 South Main Street in Greenville for a report of a male unresponsive in the roadway,” Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans said in a news release. “This individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause and manner of death is pending autopsy findings and further investigation by the Greenville City Police Department and the Coroner’s Office.”The victim’s name has not been released.
