Body found after fire consumes Lytle home; man missing

Officials discovered a body after a fire ripped through a home early Thursday in Lytle.

The body, which has yet to be identified, was found by investigators after the fire was extinguished, according to the Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office.

The officials reported that a man in his 80s is unaccounted for after the blaze.

Dispatchers received a 911 call just before 4 a.m. for a fire in the 15400 block of Old Frio City Road, according to a news release.

Lytle firefighters arrived to find a home engulfed in flames. The roof had collapsed, and the fire had spread to a shed and a vehicle on the property, officials said.

A mother and her child who were found at the scene were taken to University Hospital with minor injuries.

Officials did not say what caused the fire, but that it remains under investigation. The home was determined to be a total loss.
