By | December 8, 2021

Skilyr Hicks-a contestant who participated in the “America’s Got Talent” show-has passed away… TMZ understands. The young singer-songwriter passed away on Monday and she was found lifeless in a friend’s house-this is what her mother Jodi said. She said that she didn’t know the real homeowner. Skilyr’s body was found in Liberty, South Carolina.

Although the exact cause of her death—including the cause of death—is still unknown to her family, Jodi told us that her daughter struggled with mental health problems, including depression and substance abuse. She also said that Skilyr is deeply loved by her family and four siblings-using her music to help people in need. Jody said, “She will live through her music.”

Hicks, who was only 14 years old, appeared in the 8th season of “AGT” in 2013, auditioning for Mel B, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Howard Stern…and kept them Impressed enough to enter the next round.

She sang an original song of her own when she debuted, and actually has a very touching background story that made her own clips appear on TV. Skilyr lost her father a few years before the audition and apparently taught herself to play, write and sing.

Hicks got four affirmative answers from the judges, but was eliminated shortly afterwards before the live game in New York. Nevertheless, her time on the show is still unforgettable.

The artist encountered some legal problems in his later years-he was arrested for underage drinking in 2018 and was sent to jail for allegedly abusing his family.

She is only 23 years old. RIP
