The Rutherford County Sheriff Office said there was a shooting outside a Rutherford County School at midday Tuesday, reports states.
A 15-year-old boy was said to have fired multiple shots while standing on a sidewalk off campus towards La Vergne High School.
Detective Jamin Humphress stated, “he shot three rounds into the parking lot at dismissal, there were a number of children in the parking lot. One vehicle was hit in the school parking lot but no one was struck.”
According to the police, the school Resources Officer Ramy Ibrahim contacted the La Vergne Police, who then located the suspects and recovered two firearms.
Reports said La Vergne Police received a tip the two individuals were spotted in a nearby area.
One of the officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspects vehicle and pulled them over and then arrested them, reports said.
La Vergne Police are reportedly charging the suspects, 18-year-old Damondre Hayes, of Smyrna and 15-year-old La Vergne boy with possession of weapon.
Hayes has been booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, while the teen has been sent to the Juvenile Detention Center.
The incident is being investigated by the La Vergne Police and the Sheriff’s Office.
