Community activist Quanell X is asking the help of the public in finding missing Texas woman.
Shawtyeria Waites, 20 year-old was reported missing after she was seen last on the night of her birthday on Tuesday, July 27th at about 10 pm by her friends who dropped her off at an apartment in the 8900 block of Chimney Rock Road near N. Braeswood Boulevard. She was said to have met with a man who invited her over to his apartment from the club.
The 20 year-old was seen wearing a a pink dress, pink sandals and a long black curly wig. She is described as a Black female who is 5’9″ feet tall and weighs about 130 pounds.
Waites was said to have been dancing with the man at the club and he had asked her to come over to his apartment. Quanell X, a community activist said “This beautiful young Black sister goes into this apartment complex and completely disappears off the human radar screen,” he said. “We believe this sister was met with foul play. We believe the man they met at the club never was a friendly man, never had friendly intentions. We believe that this was a trap to lure and kidnap these girls.”
The family of the 20 year-old has been worried about her sudden disappearance. Her uncle Leonard said at the briefing “Not knowing where she is has been trying on our family.”
A search was carried out in the area and inquiries was made at the apartment she was seen going into but it was confirmed by neighbors that no-one lived there.
Quanell urged the public for help, and called out officials such as Mayor Sylvester Turner and Police Chief Troy Finner for their lack of response to the case.
