Miguel Berdecia Death – Obituary : Authorities have identified 46-year-old Miguel Berdecia, of Central Islip as the man killed on Wednesday morning in a car accident that occurred on Sunrise Highway in Sayville.

The accident that claimed the life of Berdecia also left another woman identified as Lisa Hynds,42, of Riverhead critically injured.

Report has it that the crash happened on Wednesday around 12:25 a.m. when a driver of a 2011 Toyota Yaris heading eastbound on Sunrise Highway just before Exit 50, struck the center median before hitting the guardrail of the right of the right lane. The car then stationed at the sideways, facing north, in the center lane.

Hynds who was a passenger in the Yaris got out of the vehicle, and was later struck by the Yaris after it was struck at the driver’s side by a 2011 Jeep Liberty driven by Daniel Lazzaro, 37, of Centereach heading eastbound.

Berdecia was cleared dead on the scene of the crash while Hynds was airlifted with life threatening injuries to Stony Brook University Hospita.

Lazzaro was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue to be treated for minor injuries. He has been charged with DUI.
