Sally Ann Howes Obituary, Cause of Death Revealed; she Died at 91 – We are sad to announce that Truly Scrumptious star in ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang‘ and Julie Andrews on Broadway in ‘My Fair Lady,’ Sally Ann Howes, has sadly passed away at the age of 91.

Her nephew, Toby Howes, confirmed Sally Ann Howes’ cause of death, writing: “I can confirm the passing of my beloved Aunty Sally Ann Howes who died peacefully in her sleep yesterday. My brother & I thought Sally Ann might hold on until the #Christmas screening of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as this would have greatly appealed to her mischievous side.”

Actress Sally Ann Howes sadly passed away at the age of 91

The longtime resident of nearby West Palm Beach died on Sunday, December 19, 2021, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Howes starred in Lerner and Loewe’s ‘Paint Your Wagon‘ appearing with her father, Bobby Howes, and in another musical comedy, ‘Summer Song.’

She earned high marks for a dramatic turn in ‘A Hatful of Rain.’ She was nominated for a Tony Award in 1963 for her performance as Fiona in a revival of ‘Brigadoon,’ though the production ran just two weeks, then starred opposite Steve Lawrence and Robert Alda in ‘What Makes Sammy Run?‘ in 1964-1965).

Sally Ann was a contract player at Ealing Studios and the Rank Organisation and appeared in

  • The History of Mr. Polly (1949),
  • Cinderella (1950).
