Following a crash near Northgate Mall on Friday morning, a 25-year-old man died and another man was badly injured. Around 10 a.m., a crash occurred in the 9400 block of Colerain Avenue. Antonio Wofford, 31, of Cincinnati, was driving a red 2012 Mercedes sedan north on Colerain Avenue at a high rate of speed, according to Colerain police.
When he neared Commons Circle, he allegedly blew a red light and collided with Ronald Washington, Jr., 25, of Cincinnati, who was driving a white Kia Optima.

According to WLWT Washington was thrown from the Kia and died on the spot, according to authorities. Joseph Thompson recalled, “All I heard was boom, boom, boom.” Thompson was also traveling along Colerain Avenue when he witnessed the disaster happen in front of his eyes. “The third boom was the white automobile’s steering wheel colliding with my car,” Thompson added. The passenger in Washington’s automobile, a 25-year-old man, was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he is now in critical condition.
Wofford, according to police, fled the scene. A short time later, he was caught. He was transferred to the Hamilton County Justice Center, where he is being held on accusations of vehicular homicide. Colerain Avenue was closed for eight hours before reopening just before 6 p.m. An on-duty Colerain police officer witnessed the incident and was able to provide rapid assistance, according to police.
