Robert Brown Death – Obituary – The South Kingstown Police Department has identified the man killed in a wrong-way crash in South Kingstown on Tuesday.On Wednesday, police identified the man killed as 56-year-old Robert Brown of Cranston.

The department said he was driving the wrong way on Route 1 Tuesday afternoon in the area of Moonstone Beach Road.The Rhode Island Department of Corrections posted a tribute to Brown on its Facebook Page Wednesday.

The post claims Brown had served on the Cranston Police Department with a rank of captain before retiring in 2007. He joined the Department of Corrections’ Office of Inspections in 2013.

The department said Brown leaves behind a wife and son.Brown’s 2019 Buick Encore crashed head-on in a collision that involved three vehicles.He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police said Wednesday an accident reconstruction team is still investigating. They didn’t release why Brown had been driving on the wrong side of the road.

The operators of the two other vehicles were identified as 59-year-old Lisa Brunetti from Charlestown and 47-year-old Stephen Hatch from Charlestown.

Brunetti had to be airlifted to a hospital with severe injuries. Police said while the injuries were severe they are believed to be non-life-threatening.

Hatch received minor injuries, police said. The crash is still under investigation.
