Pregnant juvenile battles for life following car and tram accident in Wolverhampton
A Pregnant teen is battling for her life in Queen Elizabeth Hospital after a tram struck a car at a busy junction in Wolverhampton on Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 6.30 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at the junction of Bilston Street Island and Piper’s Row in Wolverhampton.
According to West Midlands Fire Service, the driver of the vehicle was able to step out of the vehicle before the arrival of paramedics.
On arrival, emergency crews found the pregnant girl in a life-threatening condition. She was administered advanced trauma care before she was transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.
While the second passenger in the car, a teenage boy, was treated for injuries believed not to be serious before being transported to New Cross Hospital.
Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car responded to the crash.
Tram services between the Royal and Wolverhampton St George’s were suspended following the crash.
