Officials say an officer with the Dayton Police Department Ohio, was wounded in a shooting while responding to a fraud call at a business, according to reports.
At around 6:44 p.m., a Dayton officer responded to the Dollar General on Gettysburg Avenue for the fraud call.
The officer went to Ingram Street to look for the suspect just before 7:30 p.m. The officer made contact with a 39-year-old man believed to be the suspect in the back of the 600 block of Ingram Street.
Dayton police said the officers told the man to stop and the man struck the officer.
The officer used his Taser on the man who went to the ground, retrieved his handgun and fired at least one round at the officer. A bullet hit the officer in the side of the head, police said.
According to police, the officer is now at Miami Valley Hospital. Police said the officer is in stable condition and the officer’s injuries are non-life-threatening.
The suspect is in critical condition at another hospital, police reported.
