Authorities say an investigation is on the way following a shooting incident Monday in Valdosta, according to reports.
Officials responded at about 4 p.m. Tuesday to the 800 block of South Fry Street, on receiving multiple notifications of shooting.
Responding officers located 23-year-old man with at least a gunshot wound to his Torso. Officials administered first aid until Medic arrived and transported the victim to South Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Authorities are yet to identify the victim pending family notification.
Police Chief Leslie Manahan said in a statement; “We are thankful for the citizens who are coming forward with information on this case and do not want this activity occurring in their neighborhood. At this time in the afternoon, numerous people were outside, including several children playing. The offenders, in this case, had a reckless disregard for the safety of numerous people.”
Authorities are urging anyone information to contact the Bureau of Investigative Services at (229) 293-3145 or the crime tip line at (229) 293-3091.
