Police have identified the man killed in a condo fire this week. Jason “Jake” Harvey, 62, was killed Monday in the fire, which drew several neighboring departments to Sachem Drive in the Central Village Section of Plainfield. The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death as “smoke inhalation and thermal injuries,” Plainfield police said in an updated statement Tuesday.

Fire, police and paramedics responded to the scene just before 3 a.m. Monday for a fire at a “four family dwelling structure fire,” police said.
“Upon arrival, emergency personnel began evacuating residents and suppressing the fire,” police said. “Upon the suppression of the fire, one individual was located within and pronounced deceased.”

The state police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit was later called to help investigate the scene.
