Peter David Martin death – obituary, cause of death : Peter David Martin 65, of Sydney, Cape Breton, has died. He passed away at home in his sleep due to natural causes.

Peter was born in Sydney and he lived in Cape Breton all his life, he attended and graduated from Riverview Rural High School. He worked alongside his father at Martin Equipment Limited in the mid 70’s.

He and his first Evelyn established the business Stitching Post Ltd. in the mid 80’s. he worked briefly for Schwartz furniture, Pat King Home Life Realty, and Realty World before leaving to open his own real estate company.

Peter enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, raising chickens, fishing, being near water and generally keeping busy with work around his properties. He was a kindhearted individual who could be generous to a fault, and sometimes stubborn enough to get in his own way.

The 65 years old loved going to Lac Brule, QC, in the summer as a child to spend time with family. He was fond of dogs having grown up with many as pets but always had a special love for his dogs from childhood and kept chickens for most of his adult years. He was a great cook and would always make sure you didn’t leave his company hungry.

He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Martin, son Benjamin Martin, daughter Aimee Clemis, daughter Jodi Marshall, and son Andrew Martin of Ottawa; Step children Brandy Martin of Calgary; Kyle Martin of Calgary; 13 grandchildren; sisters Nancy Chipman, Linda Martin Jacquin and Liane MacMullin and many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Cause of death:

The circumstances surrounding the actual cause of death had not been made public as at the time of writing this report.

Funeral Arrangements:

A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at a later date due to COVID restrictions. Condolences and sharing of memories, videos or photos are encouraged and may be shared with the family here via the obituary page for Peter on the Dartmouth Funeral Home website.
