Semi driver killed after crashing into bridge pillar on Ohio Turnpike
A semi-tractor-trailer driver has been confirmed dead following injuries suffered in a fatal accident that occurred in North Ridgeville Turnpike.
The crash happened on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at about 3:30 a.m. between State Route 57 and I-480.
Report has it that the semi driver was heading westbound on the Turnpike when it sideswiped a Hyundai Santa Fe that was parked on the shoulder of the Turnpike.
The semi driver then veered off the roadway before hitting a guardrail and a bridge pillar at the State Route 83 overpass.
The semi driver was pinned in the car. The driver suffered serious injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the stationed Santa Fe, identified as a 30-year-old Ravenna woman sustained minor injuries.
The identity of the semi driver will be revealed once the next of kin is notified.
