Diana Thornton, a 65-year-old Bremen woman was killed this weekend after her car was rear-ended in a crash involving four vehicles. She passed away unexpectedly on September 11, 2021 leaving family members, loved ones and friends in great grief and fear.

According to Michigan State Police, it happened around 2:30 p.m. Saturday on southbound U.S. 131 near mile marker 55 in Martin Township.

Witnesses said a Chevy Tahoe was traveling at a high speed when it hit the back of a Mercury car that was stopped on the road due to construction traffic.

The driver of the Mercury, 65-year-old Diana Thornton of Bremen, suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at Borgess Hospital.

The driver of the Tahoe also suffered non-life threatening injuries. Two other vehicles stopped on the road were involved in the crash due to a chain reaction from the Tahoe, but did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

Police say everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The crash investigation is ongoing. According to our source, no cause of death has been declared as investigation is still on-going at the time of gathering this report.
