Northport shooting – female, 16, dead, 2 others injured in Alabama’s Wendy shooting
Trinity Shannon Death – Obituary : A shooting at Northport fast-food restaurant on the evening hours of Tuesday has left a 16-year-old girl dead and a 20-year-old man injured
At about 5 p.m. Tuesday, Tuscaloosa County Violent Crime officials responded after getting multiple reports of shooting two vehicles at the Wendy’s on McFarland Boulevard, according to Jack Kennedy, Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt.
Kennedy said a second round of calls came shortly after that incident reporting two people shot in the area of Fieldcrest Drive.
Northport police responded and secured both locations.
At the Fieldcrest Drive scene, police found a 20-year-old man with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and 16-year-old Trinity Shannon shot to death.
The man told authorities that he was the driver of a car in the Wendy’s drive-thru, where Shannon and an uninjured, unidentified third female were passengers when a car pulled up next to theirs and began shooting into it.
The suspect fired multiple times, killing Shannon and striking the driver once, who then drove to Fieldcrest Drive where law enforcement was contacted.
With the help of the victims, video footage and third-party witnesses, Tuscaloosa authorities identified the shooter as 19-year-old Kenderius Sherman.
The driver told police he and Sherman have a long history of past disagreements and that he was the possible target of the shooting.
All local law enforcement agencies began a search for Sherman and took him into custody a few hours later.
Sherman is charged with capital murder and two counts of attempted murder and has been booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail with no bond.
