One killed near Lizard Lick Road vehicle accident
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a fatal motorcycle accident on U.S. Route 64 westbound near Wendell claimed the life of a man.
Police stated that the crash occurred on Friday morning around 6:30 a.m.
The preliminary report stated that a man in his 20s was travelling with motorcycle on U.S. 64 westbound near Lizard Lick Road when he failed to stop for slowing traffic.
Authorities reported that the motorcyclist ran into the back of a car and then became entangled with a semi-truck.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been made public by the troopers pending the notification of next of kin.
It was revealed that the truck driver fled the scene but later returned when he realised his truck was hit by the motorcyclist.
The troopers said that the car that the man ran into remained at the scene till the arrival of the officials.
Two of the three lanes in that area of U.S. 64 were closed for several hours while troopers investigated the crash.
