The Montgomery County detectives have revealed it is investigating an officer-involved shooting during which a man was fatally shot. The incident which occurred as police were investigated an apparent domestic-related incident at an apartment complex in Plymouth Township.
Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Plymouth Township Police Chief John Myrsiades announced the investigation on Wednesday and said the incident occurred at Plymouth Gardens Apartments in the 1300 block of Fayette Street at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
According to reports, officers were initially dispatched to the venue after getting a complain of a man armed, which was soon upgraded to a stabbing.
Steele wrote in a prepared statement, “the male subject did not comply with officer commands and was shot when he pointed the handgun at officers.”
Officers immediately provided medical aid to the man who was transported by Plymouth Ambulance to Suburban Community Hospital. The unidentified male was pronounced dead at 1:34 a.m. Wednesday, Steele said.
“The woman who was stabbed was identified as the male’s mother and was admitted to a local hospital and is in stable condition,” Steele wrote in press release.
Authorities are yet to disclose the identity of the man.
Steele also disclosed that investigation is currently ongoing.
