Minneapolis Officer Charged in Pursuit that Killed Motorist
According to reports, a prosecutor says Minneapolis police officer has been charged with manslaughter and vehicular homicide following a fatal crash in July that took place while he pursued a stolen vehicle today.
Officer Brian Cummings was driving nearly 80mph (1329kph) in Minneapolis with his siren and lights on when his squad car ran into a car killing 40-year-old Lenaeal Frazier, Hennephin County Attorney Mike stated. The drama continued for more than 20 blocks, including residential areas where the speed limit is supposed to be 25mph.
‘”Police are supposed to protect and serve citizens, and to act in a manner consistent with their sworn oath to do so. Officer Cummings’ actions deviated from his oath and his negligence caused the death of Leneal Frazier.” The County Attorney said.
