The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department will hold a memorial service on Friday, June 11, to honor fallen Sgt. Dominic Vaca, who was fatally shot after a high-speed chase with a motorcyclist in Yucca Valley.

The service will begin at 10 a.m. at the Glen Helen Amphitheater, located at 2575 Glen Helen Parkway.

Prior to the service, a procession will begin at 6:45 a.m. starting at the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office, located at 175 S. Lena Road.

The procession will exit the Coroners Office, and follow a route that will eventually reach the northbound 215 Freeway. Motorists in the procession will then follow the freeway and exit at Devore Road, before arriving at the amphitheater.

Vaca was killed after the motorcyclist, who was operating without a license plate, opened fire on him on Memorial Day. The motorcyclist, Bilal Winston Shabazz, 29, of Lancaster, was fatally shot by deputies after exchanging gunfire.
