Cause of Melissa Smith’s death…

Melissa Smith of San Francisco, California passed away unexpectedly on September 8, 2021. She died on Wednesday leaving family members, loved ones and friends in great grief and fear.

Melissa Smith lived in San Francisco, California. She worked at American Conservatory Theater. She is a philanthropist, a woman full of good works and so humble. A lot of people who knew her spoke about her how industrious and committed she was when she was alive.

Elyse Shafarman, a university Lecturer at San Francisco State University, Faculty at Berkeley Repertory Theatre and Associate Faculty at American Conservatory Theater wrote on her timeline on social media about Melissa Smith :

Dear Melissa Smith,

It’s hard to put words to feelings. I can’t believe you have passed on. As much as you were a mentor for every single student in that school, so deeply attuned to each student’s specific needs and personal arc of growth, you were also a mentor to me. So many years of candid conversations in your tiny office, which always begain with you crossing your legs extravagantly, revealing a stylish heeled boot, tossing your hair back and saying, “Well…” in that deep throated voice. I would look forward to those meetings as if I were going to the dentist, receiving a fashion makover and meeting with a master therapist (and isn’t there a relationship between the art of transformation in acting and the art of becoming fully human?) – and some how it was all of that, and I would leave with a polished perspective, a clear trajectory and a greater sense of self-compassion. You councilled me to have patience with the pain of growth, and to allow myself the necessary time required to make that journey. You would quote Frank Ottiwell, saying, “be truthful and be kind.” Sending love to you and your family and everyone whose life you touched. I’m not sure why I am sitting on your lap in this picture, but I remember thinking, “Oh my god!” Rest in peace”
