Mary Denis Dalton Death – Obituary : Reports said arrest has been made in connection to deadly shooting that took place last weekend.
According to the McMinn County Sheriff Departments, the incident took place at a residence in the Mt. Verd community near Athens.

Arriving officers located 54-year-old Mary Denis Dalton dead with gunshot injuries and Jonathan Burger, 31, with non-life threatening injuries, according to reports.

“It appears that a group of 2-3 people who were having a dispute with the victims came to the residence sometime after 8PM,” said Sheriff Guy.

“At least one member of the other party apparently produced a firearm and fired the shots that killed Ms Dalton and injured Mr Burger.”

Authorities said two suspects were arrested Monday evening in connection to the incident.
The suspects identified as 24-year-old Esau C. Kelly, of Ooltewah has been charged with murder in the second degree and attempted murder in the second degree.
45-year-old Melissa K. Pueirt, of Etowah, charged with Accessory after the fact of murder in the second degree.
