Matthew Paul Birmingham missing – Death- missing area man Found dead in Susquehanna River
52-year-old Matthew Paul Birmingham reported missing has been found dead in the Susquehanna River, Clearfield County.
Authorities say he was reported missing on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, and investigations started on the same day.
The search team was made up of Punxsutawney-based State Police, Cherry Tree Volunteer Fire Department, Elk Run Volunteer Fire Department, Central Fire Department, Lindsay Fire Department, Pine Creek Search and Rescue, the K-9 Response Team of Clearfield County, and the Fish and Boat Commission.

The search was extensive and the local kayakers had reportedly seen the properties of the missing man and an overturned canoe while traversing down the West Branch of the Susquehanna River, in Bell Township, Clearfield County.
The area where the properties were found was investigated and Authorities discovered he had launched his canoe from a boat at about 3:00 p.m., in Cherry Tree.

A body was later found floating in the river, on the same day, Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at about 7pm by troopers.
The body was later identified as that of missing Cherry Tree, Pa man, Matthew Paul Birmingham, and authorities of Clearfield County Coroner announced him dead.
The case has been close but investigations as to his death are ongoing.
