Man dead, another hurt in Russell neighborhood double shooting
Louisville Metro Police Department officials responded to a shooting report in the 600 block of South 22nd Street, near Magazine Street at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Arriving officers located a man suffering from gunshot injuries. He was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His identity is pending until next of notification.
Another incident was reported at 2100 block of West Broadway, California neighborhood. Responding officials located a man suffering from injuries consistent to that of gunshot.
The unidentified male was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital in severe but stable condition.
Investigators say the two incident are related hence there occurred in the same area of 22nd and Magazine neighborhood.
No suspect description was immediately given.
This was the second double shooting in the city on Wednesday. The first happened just hours earlier in the Portland neighborhood where a man was killed and a woman injured. It also marks the city’s fourth homicide in three days and the 167th homicide this year. The record, which was set last year, is 173.
