Lowell shooting – Fatal shooting in Lowell’s Centralville neighborhood
shooting lowell – A shooting in a parking lot outside the Barker Avenue Apartments in Lowell’s Centralville neighborhood around 6:15 p.m. Friday left a man dead.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a motor vehicle, and the male victim was transported to Lowell General Hospital, unresponsive and had no pulse.
Several witnesses residing in the Barker Avenue Apartments stood outside as the victim was rushed from the scene by ambulance and Lowell Police secured the area.
One resident of the building, who wished to remain anonymous, said he was inside his apartment when he heard the first “pop,” which he knew right away came from a gun.
“Then I heard pop, pop, pop, pop,” the man said. “There were five shots fired. I knew it wasn’t fireworks.”
He said he came outside where he witnessed a woman pleading for someone to call 911.
“I was afraid to look out the window, because I was afraid someone would shoot in the window,” another anonymous witness said. “I just ducked.”
Several witnesses said they saw emergency crews pull the shooting victim from a white Toyota RAV-4 with Vermont license plates that was in the parking lot between the two apartment buildings in the complex.
None of the witnesses recognized the vehicle, or the injured man.
Investigators were on scene looking in and around the vehicle.
Several evidence placards laid on the ground nearby.
Lowell Police Deputy Superintendent Mark LeBlanc directed all questions about the incident to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
