Jill Garrett Death – Obituary : WNEP announced the passing of a Long-time WNEP anchor and reporter Jill Garrett after a long battle with failing health. Born in Shickshinny formerly Wilkes-Barre, August 7, 1954, Garrett reportedly passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at home.
Funeral arrangement were entrusted to Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

John M Danko Jr posted, ” This is me and my good friend Jill Garrett being silly back in 2011. I’ve known Jill and her family for over 45 years. Sadly, Jill has died following a very lengthy illness. Many remember Jill broadcasting on WNEP-TV where she was the 5:00 PM news anchor for NewsWatch 16 and later as the HealthWatch 16 reporter. In addition to reporting the regional news each afternoon to Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania, Jill shared another news with whomever she met— the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in whom she exercised stong faith. As Jill has finished her Christian course and remained faithful as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses down to her last breath, how we long to see her once again in the grand Resurrection where she will live forever in perfect health and peace…”
