Larry Caveman Lee Death – Obituary : Reports said the owner of a Jackson liquor store, Greta Bully, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and have been sentenced at a hearing Wednesday in Hinds County Circuit Court.
Greta Bully, co-owner of Bully’s Restaurant sentenced after pleading guilty to lesser charges in fatal shooting.
Greta Bully entered an Alford plea, which meant that she did not have to admit guilt, but did acknowledge that pleading guilty was in her best interest. In exchange for the guilty plea, the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office agreed to drop the other charges Bully was facing, including murder and drive-by shooting.
52-year-old Bully is accused in the April 24th, 2020, shooting death of Larry Caveman Lee outside the Taste and Sip on Medgar Evers Boulevard.
“We don’t want vengeance, but we want accountability,” said a member of Lee’s family before the judge sentenced Bully.
Bully was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The first two years will be served on house arrest. The judge said the remaining eight years of the sentence will be suspended.
The maximum penalty for the manslaughter conviction is 20 years in prison.
Bully addressed the court before she learned her fate. She fought back tears as she talked about her life and building successful businesses in Jackson. Bully told the judge she was sorry for Lee’s death, but she shot him “because I feared for my life and I had no alternative.”
Before accepting Bully’s plea deal, the judge heard testimony and watched police body camera video that showed Bully telling officers she shot Lee after he walked up on her and she told him several times to leave.
Owens said two handguns were used to shoot Lee while he sat eating chicken outside Bully’s liquor store. A Jackson police detective testified that Lee appeared to be sitting on the ground next to the building when he was shot.
Owens told the judge that Lee was shot three times, including once in the foot after a verbal altercation with Bully while she was inside her car.
Bully was the co-owner of Bully’s Restaurant. She is also the daughter of Hinds County Constable John Brown.
