Lacy J. Bennett death – obituary, cause of death : Lacy J. Bennett 36, is pronounced dead. she passed away after testing positive to Covid-19 pneumonia at the Alfred D. Hughes Unit on September 17th 2021.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice is grieving the loss of an employee that is connected to the COVID-19 virus. Lacy was a clerk in Inmate Records at the Alfred D. Hughes Unit. She was admitted to a local hospital on September 6, 2021, after testing positive for COVID-19 and having COVID pneumonia. Her condition began deteriorating on September 16 and she passed on the following day.
Lacy gain employment with TDCJ on September 1st 2016, working as a correctional officer at the Crain Unit where she worked until September 9, 2020. She returned to the agency in her current position at the Hughes Unit on June 28, 2021.
TDCJ Executive Director Bryan Collier said “Lacy Bennett was a committed TDCJ employee who served the agency well during her employment at the Crain Unit and Hughes Unit,”. “Her loss will be felt greatly by so many and our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends, and co-workers.”
Hughes Unit Senior Warden Bruce Armstrong said “She was a great person who always had a smile on her face,”. “She had a wonderful personality that automatically attracted people to her.”
She was a perfect example of what it means to be a wonderful person. she had a calming presence and was extremely kind, she touched the hearts of so many, and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
She enjoyed crafting, traveling, cooking, fishing, and being with her friends.
She is survived by her children a 15 years old son and a 12 years old daughter who were her entire life.
