Peter Mike De La Cruz, Jr., 74, of Indio, CA was born March 1, 1947 in Brawley and passed away December 1, 2021.

Peter married the love of his life, Bertha De La Cruz on May 14, 1980 in Yuma Arizona.

He worked in various jobs before joining the US Army at the age of 20 from May 4, 1967 through April 22, 1974. His MOS was 11 B20 Light Weapons Infantryman (Combat Infantryman Frontline. Unit CSC 1st Bn 8th Calvary 1st Calvary Division, Fort Hood Texas). Peter served 1 year and 8 months in Vietnam. He was awarded the following Decorations/Medals/Badges:

1. The National Defense Service Medal (NDSM)

2. Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal

3. Vietnam Service Medal

4. Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (AFEM) – Korea

5. Combat Infantry Badge (CIB)

6. Expert Shooting Badge. Honorably Discharged with a rank of SP4.

Peters love revolved around his family, children and grandchildren, taking them to the beach, family parties, traveling to Las Vegas (his favorite), Arizona, Mexico, Disneyland and Seaworld. He loved to take his family to Fantasy Springs, Spotlight 29 and Morongo Casinos to attend Winter Pow Wows as he loved selling his jewlery, beadwork, arts and crafts that he made.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter & Trinidad De La Cruz.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha De La Cruz; his daughters, Maria Levi De La Cruz-Giga (Ivan) of New Jersey; Alexis Del La Cruz of Indio, CA; and Annie Marquecaho (Jessie) of Bakersfield, CA. His sons, Peter Miguel De La Cruz Jr. of Indio, CA; Richard Marin De La Cruz (Amanda De La Cruz) of Indio, CA; his grandchildren, Jesus Angel De La Cruz and Richard Gabriel De La Cruz of Indio, CA; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild from Bakersfield, CA; his sisters, Julia Gonzalez (Gregorio) of Brawley, CA; Jenny Juarez (Dario), of Victorville, CA; Margaret Grijalva of Bakersfield, CA; and Mary Din (Art) of San Diego, CA and his brother, Jesus De La Cruz (Chuki) of Banning, CA.

Visitation will be held on January 11, 2022 from 5-9 p.m. and rosary ceremony at 6 p.m. at Forest Lawn, 51990 Jackson Street, Coachella, CA.

Mass services will be held on January 12, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 45299 Deglet Noor Street, Indio, CA and will be officiated by Fr. Juan Sandoval. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cementery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA.

A reception will be on January 12, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 739, 44200 Sun Gold Street, Indio, CA.
