Max Cryer Death – Obituary,

Max Cryer passed on aged 86. Max is a Kiwi television presenter, radio broadcaster, entertainer, singer and writer. Family say his death about noon yesterday was very sudden, and he was bright as a button the night before.

The cause of Max’s death has not been released to the public yet.


Max started his career in the 1960s as a cabaret singer in Australasia, the Far East and the United States. He also made different appearances on radio as a singer and narrator, and starred in stage productions of The Merry Widow, My Fair Lady, The Pirates of Penzance, Die Fledermaus and The King and I.

He spent numerous time abroad, where he had memories with great celebrities he encountered from Mae West to Sophia Loren.

Cryer was also a director of New Zealand entertainment for Expo in Brisbane in 1988 and in Seville 1992. He received lot of awards including the ‘New Zealand’ entertainer of the year in 1974.
