Charlotte, North Carolina – Joyce Deree Sigmon Dale, 86, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 31, 2021. Deree was born in Mt. Holly, NC on November 19, 1935, to the late Walter and Velma Sigmon.
Her accomplishments include graduating with honors from Mt. Holly High School in 1954, where she excelled on the volleyball team. In March of 1960 she went to work for Eastern Airlines, where she met the love of her life Glenn Dale. She was a pioneer for women in the workforce. She had a passion for technology and continued her education to stay on the forefront of advances throughout her life. She had strength, determination and self-motivation to achieve her dreams.
Deree and Glenn were wed on April 30, 1966. The two of them stayed in the greater Charlotte area and raised a wonderful family. She was an exceptional grandmother and was affectionately known as Mimi to her granddaughters and great grandsons. Her love of children, especially babies, was one of her most endearing attributes.
She had a strong faith and believed God and family were always first. She was a devoted Christian and it showed in the way she took care of her family, friends and coworkers. She loved to celebrate everyone’s accomplishments and victories. Her magical smile could light up any room.
Deree loved Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline and watching Hallmark romance movies. She enjoyed cruises with her husband and her annual beach trip to Cherry Grove and loved sunglasses. She enjoyed a good view, shopping and spending her free time playing on her computer. Deree also loved dogs, especially Great Danes.
Deree leaves behind her loving family.Children: Kenny Dale, Nancy Dale, Cindi and Joe Womer Grandchildren: Leah and Josh Grywalski, Brandy and Matt Skelly, Lauren Dale and Zach Onstot Great-grandchildren: Chase Dale, Ben Skelly, Luke and Caleb Grywalski Left to carry on her memory are her nephew Glennie Sigmon, her cousin Ann Furr, along with many other extended family members and her friends Ann and Bill Bryan, and Meg Brumbles.
She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Glenn Dale, her parents, her brother Glenn Sigmon, her double first cousins, Doris Bright and Jean Beckham, and many lifelong friends.
A special thank you to Dr. Michael Smith and his nurse Paula for their compassion and care. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of her caregivers.
