One killed, James Joseph Wieler, charged following a fatal hit-and-run crash
At least one person has died in a fatal hit-and-run crash that and happened on Monday afternoon.
The crash took place on Provencher Boulevard
According to preliminary report, a vehicle driven by James Joseph Wieler, 31, was moving east on Provencher Boulevard on a very high rate of speed when he lost control, mounted a concrete median and crash into a vehicle coming westbound.
The lone occupant of the second vehicle sustained fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead by the officials. The identities of the deceased woman was not immediately disclosed by the officials pending next of kin’s notification.
A swarm of police cruisers and ambulances were present at the scene for investigation.
Wieler fled the scene after the crash but he was captured and placed under police custody. He was charged with dangerous operation that led to someone’s death, he was also charged for fleeing the scene after the crash.
His charges is yet to be proven in court.
