A woman is dead after she was hit by a vehicle on East State Boulevard near the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation office Wednesday evening.
What Cause Keilan Molisa Moreira’s Death
Crews report a pedestrian lying unconscious on the ground after being hit by a vehicle. The fire services and paramedics tried saving her but they were unable. The 21-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as Keilan Melisa Moreira, of Fort Wayne. An autopsy revealed cause of death was due to blunt force injuries due to motor vehicle versus pedestrian crash. Her manner of death was not categorized an accident.
A witnesses interview tell WANE 15 that Moreira was crossing E. State Blvd. trying to get to where her vehicle was parked in a parking lot. She was with two other people, who were not struck and are OK.
Police are now looking for the driver of a silver or tan-colored smaller SUV with “heavy front-end damage.” Report said the driver of the vehicle did not stop after hitting the Moreira. It drove-off westbound towards North Side High School.
