Maine mother and two children killed in Virginia three- vehicle accident

Authorities have identified the victims that died in a fatal Virginia multi-vehicle accident that happened on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, around 3 a.m.

The name of the Maine woman and her two children that died have been revealed as:

28-year-old Alfred, Maine woman, Lacquora Smith, Her 4-year-old daughter, Kennedy Smith, and 6-year-old daughter, Kyson Smith.

The three died in the spot while the remaining two children a 7-year-old girl and a 2-year-old juvenile that sustained non-life-threatening injuries were rushed to hospital for treatment.

The fatal incident involved a tractor-trailer and Toyota and Honda.

The initial report revealed that a Honda Crosstour driven by Lacquora was travelling when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed with a Toyota SUV.

The impact of the crash caused the Honda to continue moving down till it stuck a guardrail; it bounced back into the eastbound lanes of I-66 and hit the Toyota again.

According to report, a tractor-trailer driver moving on the eastbound attempted to avoid the accident but ended up running into the already crashed vehicles.

The driver of the Toyota did not sustain fatal injuries from the crash. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.

The incident remains under investigation by the officials.
