Homer Glen shooting – woman, 18, in critical condition

Authorities say an 18-year-old woman was critically injured during Thursday afternoon’s drive-by shooting on Joliet’s southeast side.

The victim was shot in the head as she sat in the driver’s seat of a car parked in the 200 block of South Ottawa Street at about 1:40 p.m.

She was transported by Joliet Fire Department ambulance to AMITA St. Joe’s hospital.

The gunman opened fire on the woman’s car, and several bullets also hit her vehicle, according to Joliet police.

The gunman’s car sped away before the police arrived.

This is an active investigation.
